pilates

Pilates

Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, who originally called his method "Contrology". Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. Pilates puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. It stabilizes your core body, often called the "powerhouse, using the principles of concentration, control, centering, flow, precision and breath. If practiced consistently you will get stronger, move more efficiently, improve your posture, flexibility, mobility and develop control and endurance in the entire body.

foam rolling

Foam Rolling

Foam rolling is a self-myofascial release (SMR) technique. It can help relieve muscle tightness, soreness, and inflammation, and increase your joint range of motion. Foam rolling can be an effective tool to add to your warm-up or cooldown, before and after exercise. Also referred to as self-myofascial release, foam-rolling is a form of self-massage that allows you to apply managed pressure to specific areas of the body to release tightness and muscular tension, to reduce thickening, adhesion and tension of the fascia [connective tissue] and muscle. Foam rolling can also help to reduce fatigueimprove recovery, and enhance range of motion. Delayed-onset muscle soreness, or DOMS, is a sometimes-distracting side effect of exercise. At best, DOMS causes mild discomfort, and at worst, it can negatively impact future workouts. Foam rolling release and exercises to workout routines can also help prevent muscle soreness, tightness, and also provide safe ways to stretch and massage the underlying tissues.

whole body integration

Whole Body Integration

Whole body integration is the energetic and physical engagement and connection of the body as a whole. The goal is to bring together and smooth the flow and interaction of the whole body to help internally integrate systems, feelings and physical tissue while also assimilating life's external experiences and challenges. Whole body integration helps the body to return to a para sympathetic nervous system, release ways of bracing, holding and constriction from a person’s physical, mental and emotional body to integrate movement into a flowing whole body experience where blockages to energy, clarity and purpose are removed. Effortful habits are replaced with feelings of comfort, ease of movement and posture, and a sense of whole-body coherence.
